Connecting our Canberra community
The Early Learning Connection program was officially launched in January 2024 following the success of our pilot program delivered over 2021-22 and 2022-23. We were thrilled to join forces with Yvette Berry, the ACT Education Directorate, University of Canberra, Canberra Institute of Technology and ELC participants to discuss the importance of our program and improved access to formal qualifications in early childhood education. We were joined by Win News, The Canberra Times, Riotact and CBR City News who shared our expanded program with the Canberra community.

Testimonials
Early Learning Connection participants come from a wide range of backgrounds and have a variety of experience in the sector, from complete newbies wanting to start their journey, to seasoned professionals looking to take the next step. Here is what some of our participants have said about our program:
Emily Ackroyd
“Through Early Learning Connection I’ve been able to study one day a week and work the other days which means that I get both practical and knowledge-based skills to work in the industry.
I chose the Early Learning Connection program through my workplace (I learnt about it there), and after only one day I knew it was what i wanted to do, what I wanted to pursue.
Getting to meet people that are in the same place that I am, when we’re all learning together and in practice is really exciting. ELC is great it gives you so much support, having someone there by your side, if you need anything you can talk to them, having them there bringing us treats is great.”
Congratulations to Emily Ackroyd who is now working in the sector permanently while studying her final clusters toward a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. We are so excited to see her continue to grow and contribute to our sector!
Bronwyn Maher
"I had previously tried to study with an online university, and it was incredibly overwhelming! I had barriers of placements, financial stress and balancing parenting, work, and study.
But the ELC team made me feel confident, empowered me and provided me with the support I needed to be successful in my studies.
I wanted to study my degree as I am passionate about early childhood, I love my role and couldn’t imagine doing anything different!”
Congratulations to Early Learning Connection (ELC) participant, Bronwyn Maher for being awarded a 2024 Children's Education and Care Assurance scholarship for the University of Canberra’s Bachelor of Early Childhood Degree! Bronwyn was supported by Early Learning Connection during our pilot program and we are thrilled to see her thriving in her career.
